Wait, who's Paula Brett?
Paula is a performance artist, actor, singer, dancer, puppeteer, voiceover artist, broadcaster, podcaster, musician, and Maker. They trained at the London School of Musical Theatre, decided they wanted to have a go at everything, and then made a load of stuff from the bits they liked best.
They are non-binary, neurodivergent, and their show Mind The Gap is all about coming home to Musical Theatre after an extended adventure in Mental Illness. You can learn more about Mind The Gap, and other productions, HERE.
So who's Cava Charley?
Charley is Paula's cabaret alter-ego. You can find out more (and book Charley for your next gig) HERE.
When you say "had a go at EVERYTHING..."
Paula has a background in dance, and kicked off their career as a Showgirl with Swiss touring company Zirkus Lilliput. This gave them their great love of hands-on jobs! Whilst training at LSMT, Paula was the first winner of the Shakespeare Sonnet Cup. They have since worked with both classical and contemporary texts appearing as Beatrice in Groundling Theatre's production of Much Ado About Nothing and as Carla in Enigma Theatre's Production of Comic Potential.
Over the last few years, Paula has worked extensively as a Puppeteer.
Paula has garnered experience with short/long rod, hand, bunraku and large/full body puppets. They also performed with their own puppet in Groundling’s Pantomime Aladdin.
Paula is an experienced voice artist. They have worked with Inrix Media for 6 years providing traffic and travel bulletins to radio stations across the South East, including BBC Local Radio, Smooth, Magic, Absolute and LBC.
Before taking the plunge making their own shows, Paula had a hand in creating some of the pieces they appeared in, working as Choreographer, Co-Deviser, and Co-Composer.
They also took on the role of Movement Director for Lazarus Theatre’s production of the Caucasian Chalk Circle, and company manager on the Some Enchanted Evening national tour.
